I was at a Montreal meetup last week and this guy was pitching how easy it is to build on Shopify's APIs without any cost. He ignored that you hit rate limits fast and need a Plus plan for proper access, which runs $2,000 a month. I've been building a small app for tracking local inventory and the hidden fees ate my first three months of profits. Has anyone else found that the "free" developer tools end up costing more than an actual paid platform?

Watched a guy at a Vancouver pitch night last month get told to 'build an MVP' for a physical product that literally needed tooling and a 10k minimum order, and the whole room nodded like that made any sense how does that even work when your prototype costs $500 a unit?
