Just realized the corrosion I keep finding on Bell 206 tail rotor hubs is way worse than 10 years back

Read a NTSB report a while back on tail rotor hub failures that mentioned newer aqueous wash chems can leave chlorides behind if you don't rinse right. The older solvent based stuff flashed off fast but these newer mixes cling to tight spots like the hub face and grip plate area. We switched to a different brand in 2016 and saw the same white crust start showing up. One of our guys started doing a hot water rinse after every wash and it cut the corrosion way down. Might be worth checking what your wash is leaving behind.

Tried the 12-inch zip ties on a drop ceiling run in Denver and I'm never buying the small ones again

Did you notice the price gap gets smaller the more you buy? I used to grab the small ones every time because that's just what was always in the truck, and I figured bigger ties were for weird oversized stuff only. Then a guy on my crew handed me a 12 inch on a bundle and I rolled my eyes, but it held way better and I stopped fighting with ties that pop when you cinch them down. Now I keep both sizes but the big ones come out first on anything with real weight. Took me way too long to admit the cheap ones were costing me more in redo time than I saved at the counter.

That line about still hunting for links hit me, because I read somewhere that those old mix CDs from random strangers have basically become their own little genre of lost media now. People post rips of them on forums and ask if anyone knows the tracklist, and sometimes it takes years for one song to get IDed. Your mileage may vary on whether you ever find it, but the search itself seems to be half the fun for a lot of folks.
