Am I the only one who thinks cold emailing 40 Toronto founders beat every networking event I went to?
Six months back I was spending $60 a pop on startup mixer tickets in Toronto and walking out with a pocket full of cards and zero follow-ups. So I tried something dumb and simple: I pulled 40 emails off company sites and sent a two line note asking one specific question about their product. Got 11 replies and 3 calls, which is more than a whole year of events gave me. Your mileage may vary depending on your space, but I think the smaller the ask, the better it works. Curious if anyone here has tried this with agencies or if it only works on product teams?
Read a piece a while back about cold outreach working way better when you ask a real question instead of pitching, so this lines up. Honestly the agency angle makes sense too since they live and die by referrals and might actually answer. Worth a shot, worst case you get ignored.
