Hot take: Old GeoCities sites had better design than modern minimalism.
I was arguing with my buddy Dave last weekend about whether the internet was better back in the 90s or now. He's all about clean lines and white space, says those old sites were cluttered messes. But I showed him this one GeoCities page from 1998 that had like 15 different fonts, a flaming gif banner, and a guestbook with 400 entries. He admitted it had more personality than most modern sites, even if it was ugly. So what do you all think, are we trading character for cleanliness, or is that old stuff just nostalgia talking? Has anyone else shown a younger person an old site and seen them actually appreciate it?
