Just read a forum post saying wireless sensors are 'unreliable garbage'

30% failure sounds like installer error, not the gear.

Debate: Do you let strangers shoot your camera at shows or street events?

Waved goodbye to my 50mm 1.4 once at a street fair when I handed my camera to a guy who looked like he'd never held anything more complicated than a flip phone. He took the shot, smiled, and then proceeded to try and hand the whole rig back to me lens-first into the asphalt. I caught it with my elbow but my beer went flying and I looked like a total fool. I've also handed it to a sweet old lady who accidentally snapped the flash on and scared herself half to death. So my rule now is I'll only let someone shoot if they ask nicely and I can see they've got steady hands, otherwise I just tell them I'm out of film even if I'm shooting digital.

Can we talk about how much energy old fridges actually pull

Heard a similar story from a buddy who works at an appliance repair shop. He said half the old fridges they haul out have coils so caked with dust they're practically insulated, forcing the compressor to run nonstop. He told me one guy's 1985 model was pulling over 1,200 kWh a year because the door seal was shot and the thermostat was stuck at max cold. The guy paid an extra $200 a year for like 20 years because he never bothered to check the rubber gasket or clean the coils. It's CRAZY how much hidden waste those old units create. Makes me wonder how many people are just throwing money away on ancient appliances without even knowing it.

Found a flyer for a free computer class at the laundromat board that actually changed my week

That moment when something clicks and suddenly makes sense is such a satisfying feeling. Its weird how it happens all over life not just with spreadsheets. Like last week I finally figured out a better way to organize my tool boxes and it felt like the same kind of breakthrough. Those little ah-ha moments add up and make everything easier down the road.

Poured a slab in Raleigh last Tuesday and the rain caught me halfway through

Caught you completely off guard, huh? Honestly that's every concrete finisher's nightmare, you think you've got enough time and then the sky just dumps on you. Tbh I'd hit it with a light surface retarder and a gentle brush before it fully cures, takes the edge off those pits without needing to break out the grinder.
