Ugh, I feel this so much. When did a simple bunch of daisies from the grocery store stop being good enough? My mom used to just pick whatever was blooming in the yard and stick it in a jelly jar. Now it feels like you need a color wheel and a florist degree. I miss when flowers were just for smelling and looking at, not for getting likes.

Saw a contractor on a forum say they skip the house wrap tape sometimes because "it's just for water, staples do the holding." Which, sure, but then you get drafts and moisture in the walls. Seems like a bad trade for saving ten bucks on a roll of tape.

My favorite dough scraper is just a piece of cut plastic from an old binder, and it works better than any fancy one I've bought. It feels like a lot of specialized products are just overbuilt versions of a simple, sturdy idea.
