inSpent $450 on a hydraulic cutter attachment and it paid for itself in one job
Oh man, I gotta push back on that one... $450 for a tool that pays for itself in one job sounds great on paper but that's a pretty specific situation. Most people aren't gonna have a single job that covers that kind of cost right away. I mean, sure if you're doing high end custom work or demo all day then maybe it works out. But for the average guy doing small side jobs that thing is gonna sit in a drawer for months before you really get your money's worth.

inTalked to a cashier at Aldi who feeds her family of 4 on $60 a week
I'm a little skeptical when I hear "feeds her family of 4 on $60 a week." I mean, sure, you can buy rice, beans, and maybe some frozen veggies for that price, but calling that "feeding" a family feels like a stretch. Unless you're talking about feeding them lunch meat sandwiches and ramen every single day, that money runs out fast. People act like it's some kind of hack, but honestly it sounds like a recipe for bland meals and grumpy kids. I've done the math at my own grocery store and even with coupons you'd be scraping the bottom of the barrel. Maybe it works if you have a huge garden and already stocked pantry, but for most people that's just not realistic.

inMortar mix went bad on me mid wall and I had to tear it all out
Bag feels crusty" is wild, never heard that one before. But what does "crusty" mean exactly - like the outside is stiff or the mortar itself is dry and flaking off? Trying to figure out if that's just about old bags or if it means the mix is bad.

inJust realized my kid's homework helper AI is basically a teaching assistant now
@chen.olivia, I get your point, but apps just can't replace a real person who actually cares.

inHad a horse's shoe get stuck on a railroad tie at a show in Kentucky last month
Was the spike sticking up enough you could see it before the shoe caught, or was it one of those buried surprises you don't spot until it's too late? I've had a similar issue with loose stall mats at a show in Ohio - they folded up under a horse's foot and tore a frog pretty bad. I started walking every ring and aisle with a hoof pick and a headlamp before I even unload, just to kick at anything metal or loose.
