Found a 'free money' link in a spam email, actually led to a legit rebate

I clicked a link from some random email claiming I had $47 in unclaimed store credit, figured it was phishing or another scam site setup. Turned out it was the actual retailer's official rewards portal, and the rebate went through after I verified my purchase from 4 months ago. Anyone else ever stumble onto a cursed-looking link that was somehow the real deal, or am I just lucky here?

3 times in 10 years I’ve had something like that happen. Once it was a $25 gift card from a store I barely remembered shopping at. The email looked so fake, I almost deleted it. But the domain checked out and it was their real loyalty program. So yeah, you’re not crazy, sometimes the ugly email is the honest one. Still feels like playing a game of luck though.
