That time a retired mechanic in Tucson showed me how to true a wheel by feel

@wyatt862 yeah, the stand and dial indicator will get you close but you'd be surprised what a sharp eye and some zip ties can do once you've done it a few times. I've trued plenty of wheels on the frame itself when I didn't have a stand handy.

Was dead set against buying a track saw, but now I'm kind of a believer after my last job

Haha damn Karen you're gonna call me out like that? I mean yeah that's fair, I was totally that guy who thought they were overpriced until I watched a buddy's track saw glide through some 8/4 walnut like it was balsa wood and I about fell over.

TIL my old Angelfire site got archived and has over 2,000 views

My gecko was named Gex (I know, super original), and honestly @abby836, my favorite background tile was that purple marble one that looked like a bad 90s countertop. Still makes me laugh thinking about it.

That time a 6.7 Powerstroke injector cup cracked on a highway pull

Picked up a trick from a old diesel mechanic out in Arizona who does a ton of high altitude work. He swears by using a propane torch to heat the block around the cup bore before pressing anything in. Says it opens it up just enough to seat the cup without fighting it, then as it cools it clamps down tight. Pair that with the Permatex 51813 and letting it cure overnight with the system dry, and he claims he's never seen one fail again even on hot tune trucks. I tried it on a friend's 6.7 that had a cup start sweating coolant and it held up fine through a few hard pulls towing a trailer.

That abandoned blog about feral cats in Detroit

That blog sounds like a real gem. Stuff like that is what makes the old internet so great before everything got slick and corporate. Found one about a woman in Minnesota who just posted daily photos of her backyard bird feeder for like three years straight. She'd caption each one with what the weather was like that day and if the squirrels gave her trouble. The last post just said "Moving to Arizona. Goodbye birds." and that was it. Those little time capsules are better than any documentary out there, honestly.
