Pro tip: check the drain pump filter before you quote a customer a new washer
Had a call last Tuesday in Mesa for a front loader that wouldn't drain and the guy was already pricing new machines online. I pulled the filter and found a baby sock plus about 40 cents in coins jammed in there, water everywhere on his tile. He said a different tech quoted him $380 for a new pump sight unseen over the phone. Took me 25 minutes and a towel, charged him my $95 service call, and he tipped me $20. How many of you pull the filter first before you even touch the pump?

Man, a buddy of mine hit the same thing last month, lady's kids had stuffed a whole pair of toddler socks in there. He yanked the filter, cleared it out, and it drained fine, she almost paid some other guy for a whole new pump.
