inI just read that some Victorian hair tonics had actual lead in them
Radium face cream sounds like a bad joke. People probably just got a nice glow and called it a day.

inI finally listened to a collector's advice about checking for bed bugs
Honestly makes you wonder how many people bought that chair after you left. The seller probably just wiped it down and sold it to the next person who didn't have a light. That's the real yard sale gamble right there.

inTIL a folding trick at the Durham zine fest that cut my assembly time in half.
Nah, staplers still have their place for sure. That folding trick is neat for a quick one-off, but try making fifty copies for a small event. My long-reach stapler is way faster for batch work, and the binding is more durable. A folded zine can come apart in a bag. Sometimes the old method is just more solid.

inAm I the only one who lost a whole day's pay because I trusted a customer's property line mark?
How many times have you actually seen a property line marked wrong by a pro, though? I've worked with landscapers who put their stakes in the exact right spot for years. Sometimes you just have to go with the info you've got, especially on a tight schedule.

inVent: Had a real stubborn creosote plug in a farmhouse flue yesterday
Vinegar works but it's slow. I keep a heavy duty drill-powered whip attachment for those concrete-like plugs. You gotta go slow and let the chains do the work, but it chews right through. Just wear a good mask, the dust is awful lol.
