I was walking home from the bus stop last Tuesday and it had just rained. There was this stupid puddle in the parking lot of the grocery store on Elm Street. I looked down and the reflection of the sky and the trees looked like something you'd pay money to hang on your wall. The actual sky was just gray and boring. The puddle made it look all soft and painterly. It hit me that I've been trying to take nice pictures for years and the best ones I ever got were of random puddles after rain. I finally caught my own handwriting quirk after 30 years

So I was digging through a box of old school papers my mom saved, stuff from like 4th grade and middle school. And I noticed something funny... my lowercase 'a' used to look completely normal, like the typewriter kind with the little roof. Sometime around 10th grade it just turned into a circle with a tail, the way you'd write it in cursive. I honestly never even noticed the switch until I saw them side by side. What tipped me off was trying to read a note I scribbled about a bike repair last week and I couldn't tell if it said 'brake' or 'broke.' Had to ask my buddy to decipher it. Has anyone else found old notebooks or letters that made them realize their handwriting changed without them knowing?

I was walking a job site last week over on Colfax and noticed a crew slapping thin brick onto this foam stuff. They were just buttering and sticking it on, no metal ties or anything. It took me 4 years to notice my book club was just agreeing with me

I started a mystery book club in Denver back in 2019 and for like 4 years I thought we were all on the same page about everything. We read 'The Girl on the Train' and everybody loved it, or so I assumed. Then last month a newer member brought up at our coffee shop meet that she actually hated the pacing and felt the main character was annoying. The whole room lit up with people nodding and saying 'oh yeah I totally felt that too' and 'I didn't want to say anything.' I realized I had been picking books and leading all the discussions and everyone was just going along with whatever I said to avoid conflict. Nobody wanted to be the one to disagree first. Now I pass a notecard around before we even start talking so people can write down their hot takes anonymous like. Has anyone else had their club turn into a yes circle without noticing?
