Just fixed a 2021 MacBook Pro that had a totally different board layout than the 2020 model

I had the same liquid spill repair come in for both years, and the 2021 board moved the power management ICs to the opposite side under a new shield. It took me an extra hour in Phoenix last Thursday because I wasn't ready for that. Has anyone else run into this with the newer Apple stuff?

Unpopular opinion: I think you should leave a found notebook where it is

I found a small, leather bound journal on a bench in a park in Portland about six months ago. It was clearly someone's personal diary, full of daily thoughts and sketches. Everyone online says to try and find the owner, but I just put it back under the bench and walked away. My feeling is that a diary is a private thing, and the person who lost it might come back looking for it. If I took it, even to try and return it, I'd be reading their private words, which feels wrong. It's not my story to find or to share. The book was dry and safe where it was. Has anyone else just left something personal alone, even when you knew you could maybe help?

My new heated eyelash curler was a total waste of $25

I saw a video about these heated lash curlers and thought it would be a great add-on service. I bought one to try on myself first, and it just did not work on my straight lashes at all. It felt warm, but the curl fell out in about ten minutes, even with mascara. Has anyone else tried one of these and had better luck, or should I just stick with my trusty metal curler?

Serious question, did anyone else think water kefir was just fizzy sugar water?

I mean, I tried making it once about 6 months ago and it tasted so weak I dumped the whole batch. My friend in Phoenix kept telling me my grains were stressed and to add a pinch of sea salt and a raisin. I thought that was silly, but after 3 tries with her method, the brew got way more sour and complex, almost like a real drink. Has anyone else had a starter that just would not work until you fixed one tiny thing?

PSA: My shop's floor turned into a grease slick after a customer's 1990s suspension fork EXPLODED

I was in the middle of a tune-up in Austin when this ancient RockShox fork on a beater mountain bike just let go, spraying a quart of black, sticky oil all over my workspace and making the concrete so slippery I had to throw down a whole bag of cat litter before I could even move.

Ordered 75 custom t-shirts for a 5k run and the color came out totally wrong. The design was supposed to be navy on a light blue shirt, but it printed as a weird purple.

This was for a local charity run in Boise. I got the proof and approved it, but the final batch looked different. I was in my garage unpacking the boxes when I saw it. Had to call the printer immediately. They said it was a screen mixing error and offered a 50% refund or a reprint, but the run was in three days. We took the refund and used the shirts anyway, but it was a bummer. Has anyone else had a color match issue this bad? What did your printer do to make it right?

Just counted my jar of found buttons and hit 847

I always thought it was a silly collection, just stuff from flea markets and sidewalk cracks. Seeing that exact number made me realize it's a whole archive of lost little things. Anyone else keep a weird found object collection that got out of hand?

My rule to always check the top floor in dead malls changed everything

I notice most photos and stories focus on the main halls and empty stores. Last week at Brookside Mall, I ignored that and went straight to the third floor. The air was still and cool, with long shadows from the setting sun. I found a whole section of original 70s wallpaper peeling in perfect patterns. This taught me to slow down and really see the details others miss. Many say the lower floors are where the history is, but I think the upper levels keep more secrets. Now, I spend extra time in these quiet spots. It has made my visits much more rewarding.

I always scrolled past process videos until a glitchy stream hooked me

I used to think digital art showcases were only about showing off perfect finished pieces, so I ignored all those work-in-progress posts. Then last month, I stumbled on a live stream where an artist was painting a dragon and their program totally froze. Instead of cutting the feed, they kept it rolling, laughed it off, and walked through how they recovered the file and fixed the colors. Watching them problem-solve in real time made me see the skill behind the art, not just the shiny result. Now I actively look for those messy, unedited shares in online galleries because they feel more honest and human. I even posted my own sketch layers with all the mistakes visible last week, and people gave way better tips than before. It's crazy how a little chaos can make you connect with art more. I guess I finally get why the process matters just as much as the product.
