Showerthought: That time a kid's BMX bike broke at the state fair changed how I pack my kit

Hold the line with zip ties. They either snap in a mile or last forever.

Just read a forum post saying wireless sensors are 'unreliable garbage'

Yeah I'd bet money it's a bad install every time.

Appreciation post: My old solid oak T-square finally broke after 12 years

I was just reading a blog post the other day about old drafting tools and how the wood expands and contracts over time so even a good joint will eventually let go. @richard_roberts80 is right, it's a bummer when something you've worn in perfectly gives out. For cabinets especially you need that square to be dead on, and I've heard some people swear by the aluminum ones with a replaceable blade, but I can't imagine it feeling the same in your hand. What kind of projects were you using that T-square for mostly?

Question about why people pre-rinse their paper filters

Oh come on, is rinsing a filter really that big of a deal either way lol. I mean yeah if it tastes like cardboard toss it but most of the time I don't think anyone could tell the difference in a blind taste test. People get so worked up over tiny details in coffee brewing when half the time it's just placebo effect. I've used unrinsed filters for years and my coffee tastes fine, I really doubt a little paper dust is ruining anyone's morning cup. It's one of those things where the internet makes it seem way more serious than it actually is.

That moment I realized my local park was a total ghost town compared to 5 years ago

Gotta disagree a bit. I live near Riverside and I'm there every weekend, usually pretty busy by noon. Maybe you caught it on a weird day or something.
