A guy at the laundromat on 5th showed me how to get two loads out of one $2.50 wash
I was feeding quarters into the machine on 5th and Vine last Tuesday when an older guy named Ray stopped me and said I was loading it all wrong. He pulled his own clothes out of the dryer, which were still warm, and threw them in with my wet stuff, then ran one more spin for 25 cents. Cut my drying time in half and I only used $1.50 instead of $4. I've been doing laundry for 20 years and never thought about drying clean clothes to speed up a wet load. Does anyone else have a trick for stretching quarters at a laundromat?
Did you ever think about how much water you're wasting by running a whole extra spin cycle just to save a buck? Every quarter you save comes out of the same pocket eventually, since the machines are built to make money no matter how you load them. The real trick is going when it's dead quiet and asking the owner if he'll cut you a break on a slow day.
