inSaw a flyer at the Portland library saying 40% of local bulletin board posts are over a year old
Yeah, that tracks. Read a thing a while back about how community boards are basically digital dead zones in real life. The advice was to always call the number right then if you're serious, don't just take a pic for later. If a person answers, you know it's live. If it's disconnected or some random business, you saved yourself the trip.

inWhy does nobody talk about how bad the cheap 'desert tan' stucco patch is for our climate?
My neighbor used that stuff to fix his mailbox post and it basically turned into a chalky paste after one good rain.

inI used to think talking to plants was silly, but my basil in the kitchen window grew twice as big after I started.
Read somewhere that plants might respond to the carbon dioxide from your breath. Maybe your basil just likes the company, @carter.jennifer.

inJust read that a single cargo ship can produce as much pollution as 50 million cars. Saw it in a report from the International Council on Clean Transportation.
Yeah but that seems like a huge step back. Modern engines are way more reliable than hoping for wind.

inHad a close call with a washed-out bridge on the Eagle Rock Loop in Arkansas
Honestly, have you tried calling the ranger station directly? I read a forum post last week where a guy said the websites are often out of date. He swore by just picking up the phone and talking to the front desk, they usually have the most current info from field crews. I started doing that and it's been way more reliable for me. They can tell you about recent weather damage or trail work you won't find online yet. It takes a few minutes but saves a lot of hassle later.
