Last Tuesday, I found a $20 bill on the sidewalk, my bus arrived exactly on time, and my coffee order was made perfectly on the first try. No joke, I waited for something bad to happen all day but it never did. Anyone else ever have a weirdly perfect day like that?

Stacking 10 vs 100 photos of Andromeda is a total game changer

I finally sat down and compared a quick 10 frame stack to a full 100 frame stack I did of M31 last month. The difference in noise reduction and detail on the dust lanes was insane, the 100 frame version looked like a completely different galaxy. I used DeepSkyStacker with my Canon 60D and a 200mm lens from a Bortle 5 zone. Has anyone else had a similar jump when they pushed their integration time way up?

Bought a $12 adjustable spanner off Amazon last week to fix a stuck retaining ring on a vintage Nikkor. First twist and the tips bent like butter, scratched the ring and knocked the helicoid out of alignment. Ended up spending $45 on a proper VELCRO-branded spanner from a repair shop in Seattle and it grabbed perfectly on the first try. Anyone else have a cheap tool break at the worst possible moment?

Hit 1,000 miles on the PCT this summer and it changed how I pack

I was tracking my miles on the Pacific Crest Trail and when I crossed 1,000 near Belden Town I realized my pack weight had dropped by almost 8 pounds from the start. At first I brought way too much gear, like a heavy camp chair and extra clothes I never used. Around mile 600 I started mailing stuff home and swapping for lighter stuff like a smaller cook kit. Has anyone else noticed their gear load shifting a ton after a certain mileage milestone?

Hot fermenting vs cold fermenting pizza dough - which is actually better?

I've been making pizza dough for about 6 months now and always did the hot ferment on the counter for 4-6 hours, but my buddy swears by cold fermenting in the fridge for 72 hours. I tried his cold fermented dough last weekend and the crust had way more flavor and a better chew than anything I've gotten from my quick method. Is cold fermenting really worth the wait or am I missing something with my hot method?

My chest freezer in the garage stopped cooling last Thursday... I was ready to toss it and buy a new one until my neighbor came over. He pointed out the drain hole was frozen solid, so I grabbed my hairdryer and melted the ice in about 10 minutes. Worked perfect, saved me around $80 on a replacement. Anybody else fixed something dumb like that with basic tools?
