My dog photobombed every single shot on a roll of Tri-X and now it's my favorite roll ever
Took my Pentax K1000 to the beach in Galveston last Saturday and shot a whole roll of Tri-X, and my dog Hank managed to walk into 22 of the 24 frames, including one where his tail is just a blur across a sunset. I was mad until I got the scans back, and now that blurry tail shot is taped to my fridge. Has anyone else had a roll ruined and saved at the same time?
I used to be that guy who would get annoyed when a shot got messed up, like the whole point was to get a clean roll and anything less was a waste of film. Then I did a portrait session with my kid at a park and he kept running in front of the camera making faces, and I ended up tossing the posed stuff and keeping every dumb one. It hit me that the perfect shot is boring and the real stuff is what sticks with you. A blurry tail across a sunset tells a better story than a clean frame of nothing. So no, that roll wasn't ruined at all, it just turned into something better than what you planned.
