Stumbled on a stat about creosote buildup that caught me off guard

Whoa, yeah that stat hits different when you see it in black and white. I've been doing this for about 8 years and I still had to read it twice. Last winter I cleaned a flue that was practically a creosote cave - thick, shiny, tar-like stuff running all the way up. The homeowner said they'd been burning green wood all season. I've pulled out more of that nasty buildup than I care to remember, and every time I think about how fast it can ignite. It's wild how casual people are about it until they see their own chimney looking like a soot monster.

Found out my trusty old gas stove uses way more fuel than I thought

But doesn't it sort of depend on what you're cooking too? Like if you're simmering a pot of chili for a couple hours versus just boiling pasta for ten minutes, that has to change the math quite a bit. I'm curious, have you actually timed how long one of those little green bottles lasts you during a normal meal prep session? It might be way less dramatic than the manual makes it sound if you're not running it wide open the whole time.

Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say VR would replace all movie theaters by 2025

Wait, "still want popcorn and a crowd"? Is that actually a thing people are demanding again? I mean, I guess I figured after everything with the strikes and the convenience of streaming, nobody wanted to deal with sticky floors and overpriced snacks. But maybe it's just me, I haven't been to a theater in like two years. Honestly, the whole experience sounds exhausting now, sitting in the dark with a bunch of strangers.

Talked to an old school guy on a job site who said he never uses mesh tape

Paper tape vs mesh is really not that deep of a debate.

My Yashica shutter jammed mid-roll at a wedding last Saturday

Old mechanical cameras are tanks, man. A loose screw or worn part isn't a "failure", it's just time for a CLA. Your backup Canon body dying would've been a real disaster not a $50 fix at a camera shop.
