Appreciation post: My power went out right at the climax of the final episode of Severance and I had to wait 3 hours to see how it ended.

Would they even know we're still waiting?

My basement reno turned into a history lesson when I pulled up the old carpet

Wonder if the builders just used any old paper for padding, dates be damned lol

The old ladder pump versus a new electric trash pump for a tight spot

But what if that old pump is the only thing that works when the power goes out? You're only counting the lost day, not the times that rental gear shows up broken or the wrong model. Knowing your own equipment inside out has a value too, even if it's slow. Sometimes sticking with the devil you know saves you from a bigger headache with a fancy rental that craps out on site.

Just saw how ask posts are losing their spark

Actually get that a lot at my shop, but it's not always true. A really good, fresh cup of coffee can taste just as good as it smells, maybe even better. The bitterness @jake_kelly24 mentioned usually comes from over-extraction, like using water that's too hot or letting it brew too long. That barista's silence might have just been them trying not to explain coffee science at 7am, lol. A proper cup balances the roast notes with the natural sweetness, so it's not just bitter water.

My mentor told me to always use a separate, clean spatula for each client's mask jar, and after seeing a breakout from cross-contamination at a spa in Tempe, I get it now.

Saw a bad rash from reused makeup brushes once.
