Update: everyone blames the recommendation algo when the truth is the sharing counts, and I checked 11 videos to prove it
People in here keep posting screenshots of weird stuff the algorithm fed them and saying the machine is broken or haunted. I think most of those cases are actually our own fault through share counts getting weighted way harder than watch time, and I tested it. Back in April I made a logged out account on a fresh browser and watched 11 videos, mostly woodworking and a few old truck repair clips, and never once tapped the share button on anything. My feed stayed clean for 9 days. Then I shared one goofy clip of a dog in a pool with a buddy over text, and inside 48 hours my whole recommend page went sideways with random pet stuff and family vlog junk. I am not saying the algo is smart, but it is doing what we signal it to do, and calling it busted when we hand it a giant hint feels off. The screenshot posts almost never show the share history either, which is the part that actually matters. Does anyone here keep notes on what they shared before a weird rec showed up, or am I the only one who tracks this stuff?
