inThe worst day with my iPod classic last summer
Keep it plugged into the computer or a charger whenever you're not actively listening. I had a 120gb classic that would just die randomly after a couple hours away from a sync. Turned out the battery was just shot from sitting in a hot car. Dropped a new one in for like 20 bucks off ebay and it's been fine since. Also made sure to only use the original Apple cable - the cheap gas station ones messed with the connection and made it freak out.

inTalked to an old shop guy who made me rethink truing wheels by feel
Yeah that changed my mind too. Feel tells you more than numbers.

inBought a $200 hot air brush that ruined my hair in 2 weeks
Oh yeah, the "fried ends" part really hit home for me. I bought one of those trendy rotating brushes from a well known brand too, and after a week my hair felt straw-like and started snapping off at the shoulders. I had to chop off a good 4 inches to get rid of the damage, and my hairdresser told me those brushes get way too hot for fine hair like mine. I'm back to using a regular blow dryer and a round brush now, it takes longer but at least my hair isn't breaking off.

inOverheard a botanist arguing that houseplants are basically just high-maintenance decor, got me thinking
Oh so you're telling me my poor fiddle leaf just needed a basic hole in the pot and I could've saved $50 on therapy for it? @brianellis you make it sound SO EASY but I've watched that thing droop for MONTHS while I gave it "the perfect amount of water" like a total idiot. Turns out I was basically drowning it in a fancy pot with NO way out for the extra water. Now I've drilled holes in EVERYTHING - my pots, my planters, even started looking at my coffee mug sideways. But seriously, drainage holes are the cheat code to not killing your plants and I learned that way too late.

inGot burned by a cheap tarp last season in Oregon, so I switched to a silnylon one and it didn't leak a drop in 3 days of rain
A week? You didn't get sick of sleeping on what felt like a slip-n-slide?
