Guy at a gas station in Reno pulled up a map on his phone and the route went through a lake
Stopped at a gas station off I-80 in Reno last week and a guy next to me was asking for directions to a trailhead. He pulls out his phone and shows me this map app route, and the blue line just cuts straight across Lake Tahoe like it is dry land. I told him that is water, buddy, you can not drive that. He zoomed in and goes, "It says 40 minutes though." The app had him going over open water to save time. I pulled out my old paper atlas from the glove box and we found the real road, which added 25 minutes but kept him out of the lake. He just kept staring at his phone like it owed him an apology. It made me wonder how many people just trust the blue line and end up floating. What is the worst route a map app has ever given you?
