inPSA: My last backpacking trip had me missing paper maps
Oh and let's be real, half those people with their phones out are just trying to get a bar so they can post a pic. Nothing like watching someone spin in circles holding their phone to the sky while you just unfold a map. I keep one too, mostly so I can dramatically sigh and unfold it when my phone dies. What's your go-to map brand?

inMy take on bucket line vs suction dredges shifted after a muddy job
So you find the bucket line just powers through where suction chokes? Makes me wonder how many jobs we over-engineer because the specs favor newer tech. Like with that thick clay, the buckets probably just smash it apart while suction tries to swallow a whole chunk. Seen similar stuff with old cable plows versus fancy vibratory ones in rocky ground. Sometimes the simple tool that just forces its way through beats the smart one that has to stop and think.

inNever got the appeal of guestbooks until I read the messages on my old GeoCities page.
Man, you hit on something there. It was like a little message board just for your site. People would leave these random stories or inside jokes that only made sense if you'd read the whole site. I remember someone wrote a whole paragraph about how my midi file of the X-Files theme scared their cat. You don't get that kind of effort with a like button.

inVent: Our rush job taught us to never skip acclimation again
Actually, in high humidity basements, laminate often needs 48 to 72 hours to acclimate properly.

inThinking about how my mentor landed gigs without a digital portfolio...
Man, I get this! My old boss used to just bring printed sketches to meetings. For me, I made a super simple, one-page site that just shows three of my best projects. Each one has a short story about the problem and how I fixed it. That straight-to-the-point format has gotten me more calls than my old, cluttered PDF ever did.
