Vent: Our rush job taught us to never skip acclimation again
Last month, we had a laminate install in a basement with high humidity and a tight deadline. The client pushed us to finish fast, but I knew rushing could cause gaps or buckling later. We decided to wait the full 24 hours for the planks to acclimate, even though it set us back. The floor laid flat and has held up great since. In my experience, a little patience with acclimation saves a ton of headache down the road.

Actually, in high humidity basements, laminate often needs 48 to 72 hours to acclimate properly.

Yeah that "learned the hard way" part hits home. I've seen planks buckle weeks later when people skip the full three day wait in damp spots.

My basement in Atlanta runs around 70% humidity, so @wesley_jackson is spot on about that longer acclimation time. Learned the hard way when I rushed a job. Now I always pull a plank after two days to check for any swelling at the ends before I install the whole floor.
