Pro tip: I was sure this old map site was useless until I needed a route around a closed bridge

Last Thursday I was driving to a friend's place in Springfield and the main bridge was shut down. My phone's GPS just kept trying to reroute me back to it. I remembered this weird map site my dad bookmarked years ago, OpenStreetMap, and pulled it up on my laptop at a gas station. It showed a bunch of tiny local roads the big apps missed, and I got there using a detour that added maybe 15 minutes. Has anyone else found a legit workaround using some random, non-algorithmic site?

My astro club keeps posting photos with the stars looking blue

They crank the white balance way too cold trying to make the Milky Way pop. It makes the whole sky look fake, like a bad sci-fi movie poster. Does anyone have a good guide for natural-looking night sky color correction?

My foreman told me to skip the pre-heat on a small bronze pour

He said it was a waste of time for a 10 pound job, but the metal froze in the runner before it even hit the mold. I had to re-melt the whole batch and start over, which took an extra two hours. Anyone ever have an old-timer give you advice that completely backfired?
