My bookmark folder of 40 dead Geocities pages is somehow more fun than the 3 bookmarking apps I tried
Six months back I started saving old Geocities fan pages I found through random links, and the pile is up to 40 bookmarks now. Before that I tried two bookmark manager apps, Pocket and Raindrop, and both just sat there with maybe 8 links in each because adding stuff felt like work. The folder of dead pages wins because half the fun is clicking one and seeing what loads, like this Angelfire page for a guy's pet iguana that still has a working guest counter. I also like that nobody can share my folder or sync it, so it feels like my own little mess. Raindrop had a nice search bar but I never used it, and Pocket kept nagging me to read articles I never opened. Does anyone else keep a stash of old web pages just to poke at, or am I the only one still doing this in 2024?
