Broke a brand new auger bit on a frost line in Vermont last Tuesday

Try Bosch Daredevil bits. They handle rocky ground and frost lines way better.

Heard a guy at a record shop dissecting a fake band's discography and it changed my mind about deepfakes

Whoa wait, a bootleg cassette for a band that never even existed?

Dropped $300 on a fancy torque wrench that I only used once before going back to my old Craftsman

Ever try selling it on FB marketplace or a tool swap sub? I see digital torque wrenches move pretty fast if you price it around 150. lol I made the same mistake with a Snap-On scanner years ago, ended up just using a cheap Bluetooth OBD2 reader for 90% of what I do. Take the hit now before that fancy wrench drops in value even more.

Heard a guy at the ISA chapter meeting say pruning cuts don't matter on oaks

Man, that guy is way off base. I've been doing tree work for about 15 years now and I've seen plenty of live oaks with stubs that rotted all the way through. Had a big one in south Austin a few years back where a bad cut from a construction crew turned a solid branch into a hollow mess in about 8 years. Sure, some stubs might stay solid if the tree seals them off fast, but that's more luck than skill. The oak wilt stuff alone makes clean cuts worth it, even if it's just for peace of mind.

Drove past an old abandoned school and it hit me about my journaling

Honestly that bullet journal sounds like a living document then. I keep every page, dead or not, because it shows me what I actually thought was important versus what mattered.
