Just tried to comment on a blog about vintage typewriters and got a 404 error

Oh man, that's the worst! My buddy was obsessed with this one site that archived old radio jingles. He went to show me this weird cereal ad from the 70s one day, and poof, the whole thing was just gone. He was so bummed, said it felt like a little piece of history just got erased. We looked everywhere but never found a trace of it again. It's so strange when a whole corner of the internet just vanishes like that.

My old way of saving for a house was a total mess

I opened a separate online savings account at a different bank than my main one. Every Friday, $75 gets moved over automatically so I never even see it. Out of sight, out of mind. It adds up to $300 a month without me having to make a choice. I still keep a small fun money budget so I don't feel totally restricted. The key for me was making the saving automatic and then forgetting that account exists.

My spider plant just hit 15 pups and I was totally wrong about them

Yeah @butler.shane, I feel that. My own stuff went from zero to a hundred real fast, and I was just sitting there like an idiot who missed all the signs. It's funny how you can totally misread a situation until it blows up in your face. Makes you wonder what else you've written off too soon, you know? Guess I need to work on my patience, or at least my ability to spot the crazy before it starts.

I finally listened to the old guy about letting vinyl planks sit in the house before install

Check the actual moisture content of the subfloor too. I've seen LVP look fine at first, but if the slab or wood underneath is holding moisture, it'll push that vapor up and mess with the planks later. Acclimating the boxes won't fix a wet subfloor.

My old boss told me to never trust a customer's 'I already checked the breaker' story. A call yesterday proved him right.

Last year a guy on my crew got zapped because the foreman marked the wrong circuit. I don't care who says it's dead, you put your own meter on it. Test every single wire you plan to touch, and then test it again right before your hand goes near it. That extra thirty seconds is the only thing between you and a really bad day.
