Because boar bristle is actually pretty stiff and can sometimes grab and pull on wet hair, which is how we usually apply lightener. I've seen it leave more of a rough, streaky result if you're not super careful. Maybe you snagged a really soft boar brush, or maybe the type of hair you're working with just likes it better. I just think people should know that not all boar bristle brushes are the same and some can actually make balayage harder if they're too firm. But hey, if it gave you that soft look, then good on you for finding what works.
