inRant: I used to just dump frozen fries in the basket, but lining them up changed the game
Holding out for the perfect golden crunch is absolutely a waste of energy if you ask me. They come out just fine with a regular timer and a quick shake halfway through. Watching them like a hawk for some mythical browning just sounds like a recipe for burnt fingers and impatience. The extra effort doesn't magically change the potato inside, you know. What makes you think the extra watching is worth more than just eating them sooner?

inPro tip: A client in my chair last week said 'you're the first one who explained the plan before starting'
Man, "going through the motions" is basically my job description too, just with more coffee breaks (and existential dread, but you know, details). I once spent a solid hour explaining the difference between two nearly identical spreadsheets to a coworker, only to realize I was explaining it to myself in the mirror. Seriously, my job is mostly just moving boxes of data from one screen to another and hoping nobody asks why. At least you guys are gettin' some clarity out of it, unlike my dentist who just nods and says "uh huh" while I describe my routine.

inWatch out for fake terminal blocks on cheap testers
Gets the job done" is exactly right. If you're just checking if a car battery is dead or an outlet has power, 50mV is basically a rounding error.

inAppreciation post: the old timer who showed me how to sharpen a chisel on a oil stone at 6am
Man, that's awesome. I had an old timer at a hardware store show me how to properly hand file a chainsaw once, totally unprompted. Some of the best lessons come from random dudes just deciding to be helpful, right?

inDiving in the Gulf without a comms box back in the 80s
Respectfully disagree with you @jones.grace, I still prefer the old hardwire boxes.
