Rant: I used to just dump frozen fries in the basket, but lining them up changed the game
For months my air fryer fries were either soggy or burnt. I'd just shake the basket halfway, but the results were always hit or miss. Last Tuesday I saw a video where someone took the 30 seconds to lay each fry flat in a single layer, not touching. I tried it with a bag of crinkle cuts, cooking them at 400 for 15 minutes. The difference was crazy, they were all perfectly crispy and golden, not a single soft one. Has anyone else found a simple step like this that made a huge difference with a common food?

I always thought that was a waste of time lol, but my last batch of tater tots proved me wrong.

It's not a waste if it makes them taste that good!

Holding out for the perfect golden crunch is absolutely a waste of energy if you ask me. They come out just fine with a regular timer and a quick shake halfway through. Watching them like a hawk for some mythical browning just sounds like a recipe for burnt fingers and impatience. The extra effort doesn't magically change the potato inside, you know. What makes you think the extra watching is worth more than just eating them sooner?
