inStopped by a library in Vermont last week that still has a dedicated card catalog room
Oh, have you seen that documentary "The Card Catalog" on PBS? I caught it last year and it made me want to find one of these rooms so bad. There's something about flipping through those little drawers that feels like you're handling the actual history of a library, you know? I bet the smell in that room is amazing too, like old paper and wood polish. The librarian probably has a few favorite cards she shows people, maybe one with a handwritten note from a famous author who visited decades ago. Did you find any cards that had a bunch of dates stamped on them from the 80s? That's my favorite part, seeing how often a book got checked out back then.

inRemember when we used to manage firewalls with serial cables?
Man, @hayden_rodriguez you just hit on something that keeps me up at night honestly. I'd bet half of them are untouched from like 2017 or earlier, just sitting there collecting digital dust. The scary part is when someone finally goes to audit them and finds a rule thats wide open to the whole internet that nobody even remembers creating. Its like a time bomb in your network config that could blow up during any random compliance check or security review.

inPSA: 90% of my email list opened nothing until I binned the fancy templates
Did you track your open rates before and after making that change? I'm curious if the numbers dropped at first before they went up or if people jumped on board right away.

inDropped $80 on a used Zip drive and it died after 3 weeks
Had a buddy find a mint condition Zip 100 drive at a garage sale in Tucson for five bucks. He was stoked, brought it home, plugged it in, and it worked exactly once before the motor just seized up. He tried taking it apart to fix it but just ended up with a pile of plastic pieces and a dead drive. So yeah, I feel your pain on that eighty dollar lesson.

inThat time I laughed at a guy for collecting silver age X-Men covers and now I'm knee deep in back issues
Yeah, brace yourself. That first pull is a slippery slope for sure.
