PSA: Don't let a new guy pressure test a 600 psi boiler without you watching.

Got a good laugh out of this, mostly because I've been that new guy before. I mean, I once tried to check a fitting with a lighter instead of soapy water, so I get the mindset. For teaching, I found making them watch old safety videos of what happens when things go wrong really drives it home. Scares the stupid right out of you.

My wife made me try a paper planner after I lost my phone for the third time this year

Guess your phone did you a favor.

Went to a friend's place in Tempe and saw they used a whole roll of duct tape to 'fix' a wobbly ceiling fan...

That coaster story from nora_barnes is too real. My buddy tried the same trick with a deck of cards under his couch, which held until his dog zoomied through the room.

A week of nothing but ice maker calls and a single, bizarre request

Man, that whiskey stones thing is a new one. I once had a guy ask me to wire his new oven so it would only heat to exactly 350 degrees, because he was convinced every recipe was a lie and all ovens ran hot. He wanted me to override the thermostat completely. Another time, someone asked if their fridge's water filter could be set up to add lemon flavor. You just have to stand there for a minute trying to figure out where to even start.

I was working a farmers market in Austin when a customer asked me why my sourdough crust was so much darker than hers.

Wait, really? I get a way better color with a warm, fast proof. @grantcooper, maybe it's just our flour?
