Serious question, how do you store your single issues?
For years I just stacked them in a cardboard box in my closet. Last week I pulled out my copy of Amazing Spider-Man #300 and saw a permanent bend across the cover from the weight. I'm looking at getting some short boxes and backing boards, but does anyone have a better system for a collection of about 500 books?

Oh, that bend is heartbreaking. Short boxes and backing boards are a solid start, but for a collection your size, I'd go a step further. Get some dividers to separate runs or alphabetize them, and always store the boxes on their long side. That keeps the weight even and prevents those spine creases. It takes a bit more time to set up, but it saves so much grief later.

Tbh that part about storing boxes on their long side is such a good tip. I learned that the hard way after a couple of my older books got those same spine creases. Honestly, setting up dividers felt like a chore at first but it makes finding anything so much easier now. It really does save a lot of grief down the road like you said.
