inHad a whole ceiling patch fail on me last Thursday in a Denver bungalow
Learned that lesson the hard way last winter. My garage is basically a walk-in freezer. Started using warm water from the kitchen tap, not hot, just warm. Makes a huge difference in how it sets up. Still takes forever to cure though.

inSerious question, heard a local in Lisbon say 'you live here but you don't work here'
Notice this happens everywhere now, not just with nomads. You get people who move for a cheaper cost of living or a nicer view, but their real life and money is somewhere else online. They don't deal with the same daily grind or local bosses, so that local guy has a point. It creates a weird split in a city. Makes you wonder if just spending money is enough to be part of a place, or if you need the shared stress of a local job to really get it.

inHad a tricky lift with a 20-ton load in a tight Philly alley last Tuesday
That two-block setup is a solid move. My buddy had a similar thing with a big AC unit in an old Boston neighborhood. They ended up using a tag line on a snatch block to walk it sideways through a gate maybe two inches wider than the load. Said it felt like threading a needle but with a building.

inTook a 'shortcut' on the PCT near Snoqualmie Pass and ended up in a real bad spot
Man, that sounds rough. Lucas165 is right about that area being bad news. I had a map show a clear creek crossing once that was just a washed-out gully. Spent hours bushwhacking. That feeling when the trail just ends is the worst. Really glad you got out of there okay.

inVent: A stripped screw on a Minolta X-700's bottom plate cost me 3 hours yesterday.
Ugh, I did that to my M6 last year, such a dumb mistake.
