Super cheap to hand out" is the real point here. It's a neat party trick for a single idea, but calling it a zine feels like a stretch. The format itself becomes the whole message.

Update: Our book club in Portland keeps misreading the ending of 'The Road'

Wait, didn't McCarthy himself say in an interview that the ending is supposed to be good? I swear I read that somewhere. But I get your point, the "we're watching you" line is super creepy. The whole "carrying the fire" thing feels hopeful, but then the writing stays so cold and empty, it's hard to trust it. Maybe that's the whole point, like you can't ever really know if it's safe again.

Went to photograph the old fountain at Northgate Mall and got locked in a stairwell for 4 hours

Nah it was definitely the mall. The fountain got moved during construction but the whole area still counts. They kept the original layout for the new plaza so it's basically the same spot. Calling it "the old fountain by the apartments" makes it sound like some random location. That whole development is still Northgate to me. The name stuck even after they rebuilt it.
