Found a 1997 web page that still has its original hit counter at 1,024

I was digging through old GeoCities archives and clicked on a fan site for the band Garbage. At the bottom, there was one of those old visitor counters, the kind with little numbers. It was frozen at 1,024 hits. It just hit me that someone made this page, watched that number tick up for a while, and then the internet just moved on and left it there. The page itself is a perfect snapshot too, with tiny animated GIFs and a bright purple background. It's wild to see a number that small, knowing some sites now get that many visitors in a second. What's the oldest hit counter number you've ever seen still ticking?

I switched to wrapping my ribs in butcher paper instead of foil halfway through my last cook

The bark stayed way more firm and didn't get that mushy texture, but the meat was still plenty tender after about 3 more hours on the smoker, so has anyone else tried this with baby backs?

Vent: I used to think a hoof stand was just a hoof stand until I switched to the Classic Equine one last year.

I was using a basic, heavy stand for ages and my back was killing me by the end of the day. After switching to the Classic Equine model with the adjustable height and tilt, I can do a full trim on a big draft horse in Spokane without having to hunch over once. The difference in my shoulder pain after a full week of work is night and day. Has anyone else found a specific tool change that made that big of a difference for their body?

I keep seeing crews in my area over-prune young oaks, leaving maybe 30% of the canopy.

It sets the tree back years and creates weak structure, but they keep doing it because the client thinks it looks 'tidy' right after the job.

Had to choose between a full board swap or a component level fix on a busted TV power supply.

Customer brought in a 55 inch Samsung with no power. The board had obvious blown caps and a fried IC. I could order a whole new power board for $80 and be done in 20 minutes. Instead, I spent 3 hours sourcing the exact IC for $12 and replacing the caps. It worked perfectly. Anyone else still do the deep repair even when the swap is faster?

My sourdough starter tried to escape its jar on Tuesday

Left my 2-year-old starter, 'Bubbles', on the counter to feed it before my shift. Came back to find the lid popped off and a whole 3-inch blob of it oozing down the cabinet in my Denver kitchen. Took me 45 minutes to clean the sticky mess off the tile. Anyone else have a starter with a mind of its own?

Warning: I just hit 5000 hours on a single spindle motor and it's still running smooth, which I never thought possible on this old 2008 Mazak.

I was fully expecting a major rebuild at 3500 hours based on the manual, but consistent cleaning and using only the factory grease has proven the spec sheet wrong.

My neighbor told me to stack 30 second shots for the Orion Nebula instead of going for one long exposure.

I was in my backyard in Phoenix last month trying to get a clean shot with my old DSLR, and the noise was terrible. I stacked about fifty of those short frames like he said, and the final image came out way sharper than my old blurry attempts. What's the longest single exposure you guys have pulled off without a tracker before the stars start to trail?
