My cousin argued that GeoCities pages were more creative than modern social media profiles

That Geocities page probably took a week to build in Notepad and required three separate under construction gifs. The freedom was real, but let's be honest, most MySpace profiles from 2005 were just as chaotic and ugly in their own way. The tools changed, but the urge to make a loud, personal digital space never really went away. It just moved to different platforms.

After 6 months of my cat knocking over the same plant, I realized I'd been putting the water glass I refill for him right next to it on the windowsill.

Right? It's wild how they find those spots. Makes me notice how many tiny things we do all day actually keep our little worlds running. Like moving a glass or closing a cabinet so the cat doesn't get in, it's all these mini rescues. Kinda funny when you step back and see the pattern lol.

Appreciation post: I still use the old Collins Pro Line 21 manuals for certain troubleshooting

Look, I get the nostalgia for paper, but clinging to those old binders is just slowing everyone down. The digital system gets updates pushed to every tablet at the field, while your 2008 binder is missing every service bulletin from the last fifteen years. Burns.phoenix found one error, but that's a fixable database issue, not a reason to ditch the whole digital system. Searching a PDF is ten times faster than flipping through a thousand pages, and you can't carry a hangar's worth of paper manuals in your pocket. The future is here, even if it has a few bugs to work out.

A lead mechanic told me my torque wrench technique was off by a quarter turn

That "letting the wrench settle" idea applies to more than just torque wrenches. I found the same thing when I was learning to use a click-type canning jar lifter, of all things. Rushing the pull meant I'd sometimes crush the lid before it sealed right.

Hot take: I thought those old 'under construction' gifs were just lazy filler

Yeah, that's how my old GeoCities page felt too.
