My dad said to get a sewer scope inspection before closing on our house in Tacoma.

The inspector found a collapsed clay pipe under the driveway that would have cost us $12,000 to fix. We got the sellers to cover the repair before we signed anything. How many of you actually added a sewer scope to your inspection list?

Read a local news article last year about a couple who skipped the sewer scope to save a few hundred bucks. They ended up with a massive backup and a repair bill over twenty grand. That story convinced me it's a non-negotiable step for older neighborhoods. Did your inspector give you a rough idea how old that clay pipe was?
