Found a bookmark from 2015 about a 12-foot python living in someone's ceiling

I was cleaning out old bookmarks last night and stumbled on this link I saved years ago. It was a local news story from Tampa Florida about a family who heard scratching in their walls for 6 months before they finally cut open the ceiling. Sure enough, there was a 12 foot reticulated python that had escaped from a neighbor's house 3 blocks away. The part that got me is the python was just living up there eating rats from the attic, totally fine and growing bigger. The homeowner said they thought the scratching was squirrels or something. I clicked through to see if there was an update and apparently the python got rehomed to a reptile sanctuary. Has anyone else got a random bookmark about wild animals in weird places that stuck with you?

Wait so you're telling me ceiling pythons are actually a thing? I used to think that was just a made up internet story.

Haha nah come on man, this is one of those things that sounds way more dramatic than it actually is. I've lived in Florida my whole life and never once heard a firsthand story about someone finding a python in their ceiling. I'm pretty sure it's just something people post online to scare each other lol.

Right, @leor37, they're 100% real. How many people do you think just walk into their attic and find one coiled up around a water heater. Has that ever happened to anyone you know or is it always a friend of a friend kind of story?
