I finally had to pick between the John Muir Trail and the Colorado Trail last summer

I had three weeks off and could only do one. I went with the Colorado Trail, starting near Denver, because the permit system seemed easier. It was a good call, the wildflowers in July were amazing and I met some great people at the campsites. Has anyone else done both and have a strong favorite?

Honestly, the JMT scenery is just unbeatable for me.

The Winds in Wyoming have a special kind of quiet beauty, though.

Oh come on, the JMT is way too crowded and overhyped. The Winds have way more solitude and that RAW, untouched feeling that the JMT just doesn't have anymore.
