Had my walking sneakers, my nicer dinner shoes, and then a pair of sandals just in case the hotel had a pool I might not even use. Spent more time deciding on footwear than what clothes to bring. Now I just wear my most comfy pair and call it a day, even if they don't match everything perfectly.

It's the same logic as using particle board for cheap furniture. It works fine until the first real spill or humidity spike. People get away with shortcuts for years until the one time conditions aren't perfect. That lumber guy has probably seen a hundred dry sheds, but he hasn't had to fix the one that failed. Actually, those are usually called flex bits. They're not really flexible like a hose, more like a long spring that can bend around stuff. The real lifesaver is having the right driver attachment so it doesn't just spin uselessly.
