inMy neighbor mentioned his Coleman stove has the same fuel line as his old lantern
Oh man, that's a total lifesaver when you find those cross-compatible parts. It's not just stoves and lanterns either. I've had luck with universal O-rings and gaskets from hardware stores working in old camp water pumps and stuff. Saves a fortune over buying the "official" repair kit that's just the same piece in fancy packaging. Makes you wonder how many other common bits are hiding in plain sight.

inLooking at houses now versus when I bought my first place in 2008
But what if you can't afford the fixes?

inOverheard a kid at the library say zines were 'just old internet'
That mixtape comparison is spot on. Lucas_moore gets it, the whole point is the object itself has a history. A blog post just lives on a server somewhere, but a zine got folded, stapled, and handed to someone. It's proof that a person cared enough to make a thing you can hold. Your cousin will probably look back in ten years and finally understand what he was holding.

inJust realized I found way more interesting stuff when I stopped using the library's main search and just walked the stacks.
My professor calls that getting "shelf lucky," and it's so true.

inPicked a 10-inch knife over a 12-inch for a big ceiling job last month
That control thing is huge. A lighter knife means less arm fatigue over a full day. You can keep a steady pace without your shoulder giving out. The finish is smoother because you're not fighting the tool. Speed doesn't matter if you have to go back and fix your work. Your crew was focused on the size of the ceiling, not the quality of the pass.
