Serious question, why do so many prompts for fantasy stories just copy Lord of the Rings?

Read a blog post about using history books for fantasy ideas.

Rant: That 'easy money' flyer on the library board cost me $75

Did you report it to the library staff? I used to ignore those flyers thinking only truly desperate people would fall for them, but seeing how they're placed right next to legit stuff makes it a whole different problem. It's not about being dumb, it's about them making it look like part of the normal community board. Now I pull them down whenever I see one.

A customer's cat taught me a new way to find a wire break

My buddy Mike had a similar thing happen on a rewire job in a 1920s bungalow. He was tracing a dead outlet for an hour, and the client's old beagle just sat and whined at one specific floor vent. Mike pulled the grate and found a chewed wire bundle from a past squirrel problem right in the duct. That dog saved him a ton of time.

Read a fan theory online that flipped my view on my favorite anime.

That "dead the whole time" idea gets passed around a lot... but it really misses the point. The ending is more about Shinji finally choosing to connect with other people, even if it hurts. The whole last episode is him learning to accept himself.

I finally bought a proper salon chair for my home studio

Wasn't there some big recall on a bunch of hydraulic chairs a while back? I swear I read something about them failing and dropping people on the floor (which sounds pretty funny, unless it's you). @stone.margaret, you've got me worried about mine now. I guess they're still the easiest way to adjust things, even if the mechanism can be a weak spot. Maybe the trick is just not to buy the cheapest one you can find.
