Back then, I thought eating well on a budget was impossible, but a friend's lentil soup recipe changed everything

Lentils were a total game changer for me too. I remember staring at my empty cabinets with like five dollars to last the week. Learning to make a big pot of spicy red lentil dal felt like unlocking a secret level in life. It's crazy how one cheap ingredient can open up so many possibilities. That first time your place smells like actual good food instead of despair is everything.

Heads up about drafting from hotel business centers...

Learned that the hard way myself. I never trust hotel computers for anything that isnt saved in at least two places. My rule is to keep the main file on my laptop and do a backup to a portable drive every hour. Cloud saves are good but I have had hotel wifi drop at the worst times. A physical backup you control is the only safe bet.

Thinking about the day I threw out a lot of stuff instead of recycling

Oh man, I've been there. My trick now is to keep one big box labeled 'donate/recycle' in the main room I'm packing. Anything questionable just goes straight in, no sorting right then. It saves that panicked moment, and you can deal with it all at once later, even if it's just driving the whole box to a donation drop-off. Sometimes I'll even stash it in my car so it's out of the way but not gone forever.
