Got caught in rain during a smoke and my temp dropped, now I check the forecast first.

Hold up, he checks his phone nonstop now? Over one wet smoke? That just seems wild to me. I get being a little annoyed if your stuff gets ruined, but changing your whole routine like that is a big shift. It was just rain, not a tornado. I don't know, maybe he just really hates being cold and wet, but checking constantly sounds exhausting.

Managed to calm a spooky pony for a perfect trim session

Actually works if you pair the smell with something good. Give treats while the tools are out so the dog starts to link them with food. Do that for a few days before you even try to use the tool. It's not a cover up, it changes how they feel about the noise later.

Lost another piece to stress cracks, now I'm stuck between slow oven drops and quick kiln shuts

Well, thickness sure plays a huge part, but don't forget about how the glass was worked before it even hits the kiln. Like, if you've been torching it unevenly or adding layers in a rush, that sets up stress from the start. I saw a guy once who made a thick vase but kept reheating one spot, and it cracked during anneal even with a slow cool. So it's not just about how thick it is, but how even the heat history is. Thickness tells you how long to anneal, but the stress already in the glass tells you if it'll hold together. Makes you think about the whole process, not just the final step.

My rule to always check the top floor in dead malls changed everything

My buddy Tom told me about the time he checked the fourth floor at the shuttered Plaza Mall. He found a whole forgotten food court with the original 1980s neon signs still lit by emergency power. It made him realize how much history gets left behind up there when everyone focuses on the ground level. What's the most surprising detail you've spotted in a quiet spot like that?

Polyurethane went cloudy on my table after a humid weekend, what gives

Tell me about it, felt pretty silly after the third go. Always seems obvious once you break it.
