Checked out that new 'luxury' condo building on 5th Ave and the trim work is a joke

Exactly, it's all about the person doing the work. A laser level is just a tool, not a magic fix for not giving a crap. That story about the caulk gap is a perfect example. The whole point of good trim is clean lines and tight joints, not just hiding mistakes. Seeing that in a "luxury" place is just insulting to anyone who knows what they're looking at. It makes you wonder what else they rushed through that you can't see.

Cleaned out my old toolbox and found a logbook from my first year

But how often does that actually happen though.

Had a weird thing happen at a client's office that made me change my whole setup process

Man that's rough, reminds me of a buddy who had a similar mess. He was setting up a new laptop for a family member and let them plug in their old phone to grab photos before he'd run any checks. Turns out the phone was loaded with junkware that spread to the new laptop through the file transfer app. He spent the whole night cleaning it up instead of just an hour. So you're totally right to scan the old device first, offline. Do you think a separate transfer cable is safer than using the network?

Serious question, how do you cope when a project drags on for months?

Yeah, breaking it down is key. I had a design review stuck for weeks until I sent just the user flow diagrams first. Got that green light, then moved to the UI mockups. It feels less overwhelming for them to sign off on bits at a time.

Shoutout to the person at the Portland zine fest who traded me a comic about their panic attacks for my poetry chapbook

Messy handwriting about a bad week" is the whole point.
