Showerthought: My buddy in Seattle said he never reads reviews for his own gadgets anymore.
We were talking about the new Garmin watch and he told me he just buys stuff, uses it for a month, and then forms his own opinion. That hit different because I realized I spend more time reading reviews than actually using the things I buy. Do you guys trust your own experience more than online ratings?

My last three Amazon returns were for highly rated items that just sucked.

Right? What even makes a good review anymore? I bought this phone charger with thousands of five star ratings, and it started smelling like burnt plastic after two days. Then there was the "super soft" blanket that felt like sandpaper. Feels like half the reviews are fake or from people who just got the item and never really used it. Makes it impossible to trust anything.
