Found a 2008 thread where a guy tried to fix his car radio with a potato

I was looking for a wiring diagram for my old Civic and stumbled on this forum post from like 16 years ago. This dude was convinced a raw potato could act as a capacitor to fix his static... he posted pictures of the potato wedged in his dash. It didn't work, obviously, and the thread just devolved into people arguing about whether a sweet potato would have been better. Has anyone else found a fix-it thread that went completely off the rails like that?

Remember reading that exact thread years ago, I mean the potato thing was wild. Actually though, a raw potato can hold a tiny bit of charge, it's just nowhere near enough for a radio. The real problem was everyone arguing over root vegetables instead of telling the guy to just check his ground wire. Classic forum stuff, getting stuck on the joke instead of the fix.

That sweet potato debate was the most useful part. At least they were trying different materials, which is how real troubleshooting works. Sometimes the wrong answer gets you closer than no answer at all.
