Cracking the case of the wobbly hydraulic elevator ride
I've been working on this hydraulic elevator from the 80s in a small building for a few months. Each time it got to the bottom, there was a slight shake that never felt right. I checked the oil, the seals, and even the rail guides, but nothing stood out. Last Tuesday, I spotted a tiny drip from the cushion valve that was letting air sneak in. Swapped it out, and now the ride is perfectly smooth. I'm still puzzled why it took me so long to find that leak. Maybe it was too small, or I was focused on other parts. Anyway, it's a small win that makes the job feel worth it, and I'll double-check valves from now on.

That's a solid fix, but maybe the order of checks got you. Starting with the easy stuff like a stethoscope on the valve or just listening for air hisses can save a ton of time. I used to dive straight into the big parts too, and it's easy to miss the small leaks when you're overthinking the complex stuff.

Apply that logic to wiring too.
